MARCH MADNESS!
The time of the year when fans grades drop close to a full letter grade, and companies lose millions of dollars, is finally here!
No I will admit March is probably one of my favorite months purely because of the tournament, and this year should prove to be even more entertaining. Although many analysts are complaining about the fact that there are no teams that want to be a number one seed because for the last 2 weeks 6 of the top teams have lost. No team has stayed number 1 for more than a week for the past 3 weeks. Yes this does mean that the tournament will be practically impossible to predict, but it does mean that I think we will be up for a very very exciting tournament.
The one complaint I do have about the tournament is the fact that they changed the field from 64 teams to 68. There were talks about a 96 team expansion, which I honestly do not like the sound of because no body want to hear about how the 97th best team in the nation was stiffed. But to change it by 4 teams seems almost pointless...if you are going to expand the tournament then expand it...if not then dont.
This follows the pattern of the rest of the sports world...every sport things that it is necessary for them to make changes.
1. NHL added shoot outs
2. NFL Overtime
3. NFL reffs standing behind the line
4. NCAA expansion
5. NCAA 3 point line
6. NCAA Baseball bats
While i do agree that with progression comes change, but I think we need to be careful that we do not end up changing the game!

Riding the Giffin
This wont be a particularly long post I was just watching the NBA All star festivities starting last night and started seeing a pattern. Blake Griffin is in EVERYTHING.
Given the already crowed rookie of the year is an UNBELIEVABLE athlete, but the fact that he is literally competing in one of the events EVERY day during the 3 day event is kind of funny. I definitely understand why they would ride the Griffin...because...well he's not only a great player, but he's from LA (where the all star game is).
I will say pretty much the only reason I'm going to watch the dunk contest is to see what Blake Griffin will be able to do.

PROfessional Conduct
You can't go more than 3 weeks with out hearing about a professional athlete embarrassing themselves with an illegal or immoral action. That's actually how I came up with this topic, I was battling to find a topic that wasn't about C. Anthony acting like a jerk and trying to leave Denver, so I decided to go onto ESPN.com, and what is the first thing I see "Hansworth charged with assault". And the saddest part is I'm really not surprised or shocked. It has almost become expected that these athletes will do something stupid, it almost that when someone is not arrested in a year we think of them as a good "role mode". Honestly I sit around and cannot think of a single NFL, NBA or MLB player that I would want my child (unborn) to act like. Even the ever lovable Bret Favre was charged for sending pictures of, well let just say very inappropriate areas, to an attractive reporter when he was with the Jets.
The NFL cant come up with a way to have a new 2011 season because there is 9 Billion dollars that they cant figure out what to do with it. Heres an idea: spend it on some etiquette classes!! Some work shops that teach players how everyday citizens should act within society. Heres another idea.. What about using that 9 billion dollars (which they obviously dont need, because when they do have it they spend it on party boat to do illegal things) to pay for the college tuition of students. You could probably pay for most of the tuition for nearly every college student. This would allow those who are unable to pay for school to be able to get an education that they otherwise would not be able to get.

Super Bowl Prediction
Packers or Steelers?
In all honesty this is the first time I can honestly say that I am not rooting for one particular team. I am really not a big fan of either of these teams, as bad as this sounds, this actually puts me in a unique situation. I can actually watch this game just to enjoy some good football. So that brings me to my prediction:
The packers will win comfortably. The score will be 27 - 14 Greenbay. I think that it will be a close game in the first half, but because of some big defensive plays the Pack will pull away in the second half.
Because of these defensive plays in the second half the MVP will be either Woodson or Sheilds.
Either way, I think it will be a fun game to watch!
Enjoy

Sportsmanship
You often hear TV or radio analysts talk about how sportsmanship is dead, and how there are no good role models left in sports, and in all honestly I have definitely been a part of this group, however, last weekend I found what I think may be the best place for children to find role models. It was the X-Games. It's somewhat ironic that these sports which are usually seen as immature or rebellious actually bring us the best role models.
After every run taken by one of this unbelievably skilled athletes is ended with their competitors hugging or high five-ing congratulating each other on a great run. It honestly has become a sport where people honestly want to see each other succeed and continue to take new steps in improving the sport.
So my tip would be next tim you are looking for something to watch on TV, dont just pass by the extreme sports, take a watch, get to know the athletes!!
